Cheapest Health Insurance

Finding cheapest health insurance will be the least of your worries when you are out of university. More often than not, finding a job, a place to live and paying off all that student loan are the things that concern most youngsters. After all, health insurance does not seem so important when you are young and healthy.

Murphy´s law, that quirky law of life and nature, says ´If anything can go wrong, it will´. In fact, life has a way of dealing you a quick blow when you are least prepared for it. This is especially true when you are young and prone to ´youthful indiscretions´. Given the high cost of healthcare, an unlucky combination of a broken leg and no insurance can cost you thousands of dollars in medical bills and can in-debt you for the rest of your life.

Finding Cheapest Health Insurance Coverage

The most obvious choice of getting cheapest health insurance is an employee sponsored health insurance. Most employers include health insurance in their compensation package and employee sponsored health insurance tend to be the least expensive. Employers can pool together their employees´ health plans and spread the risk, thus lowering the cost of individual health insurance. Unfortunately, not all employers provide health insurance. So before accepting that exciting job offer, check with the H.R manager whether they offer health, vision and dental insurance.

Individual health insurance is an option for those who are not lucky enough to get insurance at work, although the high cost of individual plans have deterred many young adults from choosing this option. If individual health plans are too expensive for you, there are low cost alternatives. Some Universities allow you to extend your student health insurance plan at lower group plan costs for a short period of time, allowing you to stay covered until you find an employer-sponsored health insurance. Short term health insurance is another low cost alternative to individual health plans. Individuals without pre-existing conditions can choose this option which typically offers coverage for up to 12 months.
